CAFE KUR SLIGHTLY TWEAKS FORMAT

As of 11 a.m. June 4th, Cafe KUR has slightly tweaked its format, based on your comments and suggestions over the past couple of years. Cafe KUR listeners will now hear a slightly greater emphasis on jazz (both traditional and contemporary), but also keeping the soft oldies from the 50s through the past decade in the mix, as well. Think of it as a pizza with mixed toppings ... half jazz/half oldies! Jazz is getting harder and harder to find on the radio dial, and being that it is arguably one of the roots of American music, KUR felt the need to step in! Cafe KUR is the only place where you can hear Miles Davis and George Benson melded with Elvis Presley and Barbara Streisand. Welcome to the new Jazz/Oldies mix of Cafe KUR! As always, feel free to share your comments by e-mailing us at kur@kutztown.edu Cafe KUR is more than just tunes on the radio. It is a musical form of art!

BACKUP STREAM NOW ON!

You know the story. We don't have to tell you. KUR's webstream has been very fickle as of late. And while the computer gurus on-campus have done everything possible to make it more reliable, it still occasionally cuts out during prime hours. The reason behind this is unclear (computer problems are never clear), but KUR took matters into our own hands and got a backup stream going through Live 365. So when you're in the mood to listen to KUR (hopefully frequently), try listening through the normal portals in the upper left. If that fails or if it cuts out midstream, then simply click here for our official backup stream. You can also acquire a link to the backup stream directly below our normal on and off-campus portals, in the upper left hand portion of this page. We encourage you to try the regular portals first, and the backup one as your second choice. Thanks for being so patient with this issue over the past few months and we hope this new backup stream is a bit more reliable so that you can hear KUR 24/7 on your computer!

SCAM ALERT

KUR has once again been made aware of a scam going around in which an unknown person is making calls to people and asking them to participate in a $1,000 giveaway if a few questions are answered or a challenge is taken. KUR would like to once again inform the public that no such station-sponsored event is occurring, and we are attempting to trace the source of these calls. We apologize and encourage you to direct any concerns to your local police and to KUR. Our number here at KUR is (610)-683-4059.

CONTEST RULES

Kutztown University Radio occasionally runs an over-the-air contest soliciting listeners to call in and win a prize or qualify for a prize. Some basic rules to remember:

1) Contests are open to anyone other than people directly affiliated with KUR, meaning KUR members are not eligible to participate and win. Per approval from KU's KUSSI department, the contests are open to anyone else including University students, faculty, staff, and of course any random listeners in the local, national, or international community.

2) Please only one winner per family.

3) You are not allowed to win any KUR contest more than once every 30 days.

4) Prizes are to be picked up at KUR's offices during normal business hours which can be acquired by arrangement with a KUR staff member. Under special circumstances, KUR may agree to mail the prize, but this is not guaranteed. You are normally responsible for picking up your own prize.

5) KUR is not responsible for any losses or damages that occur from the use of any prize you win from the radio station.

6) KUR never conducts any outbound phone contests. Any such call you may receive should be considered a scam and reported to your local authorities and/or KUR.

7) Any questions about any of these rules should be directed to KUR management at (610)-683-4059.

8) Good luck!
